Sony CEO: $200 Blu-ray Players Coming [Sony]

Everyone is crying out for a cheap Blu-ray player, now that the format war is more likely to want to bide their time with a sweet upconverter-DVD player $ 200 Blu-ray cavalry is at least a year away, according to Sony Electronics CEO Stan Glasgow, talking about it today in New York. "I do not think that $ 200 is going to happen this year. $ 200 next year might happen.

• Sony is not sweating from the recession. • The company is "working very hard" on Apple's answer to TV, despite the fact that everything seems to centre around a Blu-ray player in one way or another, and not necessarily based on the nefarious Bravia Internet Video Link. Sony is "working in many different ways to deliver content downloaded," like the PlayStation Network which "spread in the next year or so many other Sony products.

Sony Announces PSP Cradle [Gaming]

In retrospect, it’s surprising this didn’t happen sooner—Sony has announced the PSP Cradle for Japan. Meant to take full advantage of their 1seg tuning abilities, the cradle allows users to do the normal cradle shtick (charging the unit while outputting to the television, plus getting an IR remote). Arriving April 24th, the cradle with A/V cables will cost $62, while the cradle without will run $46.

Sony To Make Large Hard Drives

Who knew that Sony has what it takes when it comes to large storage capacity? The Japanese electronics giant has just announced a new technology that aims to make great hard drives with a possibility. It ditch the traditional magnetic read / write head for a hybrid of optical and magnetic technology to do the density of experiencing a marked increase, where the media is written on the disk using a laser.

It has been speculated that 125GB of data fits into a single square inch. Using the same layout as the 320 GB disks today, we could see a 1. 6TB hard drive in the future instead. There has been no timetable set for the hard disk release, so keep your fingers crossed that it will soon be the keyword. Permalink | Commentary | Uberbargain | Uberphones.

How Axel feels about the PS3How Axel feels about the PS3
Ok…BEFORE ANYONE SETS ME ON FIRE!!!

I have NOTHING against the Sony Playstayion 3, actually, now that it’s been announced that a 40 GB hard drive will be for sale for $399, I plan on getting one…but, back to the whole point behind this vid.

If you go to mine and Axel’s shared account, ( then you’ll be able to see the skit we were in. In the skit, Axel is on the side of the XBox 360. I thought it would be a nice little gag vid to make this after our skit.

So please…no whining about which one is better! JUST to be safe, I’m making sure ALL comments must be viewed by ME first! :3 HA HA!!

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: *tear* I own NOTHING!!! No Kingdom Hearts, or the audio!! T^T
Only the vid it self. ^-^

Also…everyone Axel is singing to (except Roxas) are Sony representatives! XD XD XD

…King Mickey is just like: “God! Shoot me!!” DX

Also also…here are the lyrics just for fun! XD

Step 1 you make your console cost the most. You beat your chest and proudly boast. Despite no good exclusive games, you make a bunch of ridiculous claims. Then ignore our need to play online. Don’t make it fun like Xbox Live. You use Blue Ray, which I don’t need. Now you’re getting you a$$ kicked by the Wii!

Sony you went wrong with your Ps3. I’ll just keep playing my 360. Hope this song has helped you understand. Now you know how you killed your brand.

Phil Harrison yeah you best, except you didn’t beta test. Sure I can surf the net, but I cant find my gaming friends. Said Halo 3 don’t worry you instead you offer Killzone 2. But killzone 1 sucked before so what made you think we wanted more?

Sony you went wrong with your Ps3. I’ll just keep playing my 360. Hope this song has helped you understand. Now you know how you killed your brand.

“At Playstation what we have done successfully over the last 12 to 13 years is to..uh uh gonna be…uhm-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-we’re gonna do some things a little differently we’re gonna uh-uh-uhm-uhm-uhm-uhm-uhm-uhm-I don’t have any comment to make.”

“Yeah Phil 1 question real quick. A lot of players say they want to be able to play online without jumping through a bunch of hoops. Do you have any plans to make the Playstation 3 not suck as much when you go to play someone else online?”

“We know thats a compelling feature for uh certain players in certain segments in the audience um but as to specific plans or uh features I don’t have any comment to make.”

Guitar Hero III on PC w/ Wii Les Paul controller + GlovePIEGuitar Hero III on PC w/ Wii Les Paul controller + GlovePIE
This is my twin brother, Ichinisan/jevansturner, playing GHIII on the PC for the 3rd time with the Wii Guitar displayed on the Sony KDL-52XBR2 @1080p.

This isn’t a skill demonstration, so ignore the performance unless you just want to see it work. He’s still getting used to the latency it introduces (he didn’t calibrate) and the 2 phones ringing didn’t help him focus any. He’s only been playing a few weeks on and off.

This motherboard’s DTS Connect feature is a good way to one-up the Wii version’s current lack of a fix, replacement, or work-around for DPLII surround-sound, though I’m not really set up for it at the moment.

Using GlovePIE, we only just got it working so we haven’t finished the parts of the script for supporting tilt, but that’ll be easy (”-” button for now). The whammy bar will be better once we figure out how to smoothen the mouse mapping. There’s no support for the Wii-exclusive speaker and rumble, though I’d expect the Guitar Hero clones to add this soon. The recent Wii homebrew hack seems to have helped make sense of the Wii’s disc format, so importing from the Wii disc may be the next big thing.

One problem is that the PC version always defaults to “Leftie Flip” when there is no X-plorer guitar connected due to the default KBM config.

It’s paired with some Bluetooth adapter that was included with a MS Wireless Presenter Mouse. It functioned as a proprietary USB wireless mouse at first, but it was easy enough to download and configure the right Bluetooth stack to get this going. At least this way it was easy to find 64-bit drivers!

My brand new Macbook Air Unboxing! My brand new Macbook Air Unboxing!
do I get a Free Macbook Air?

Easy. I am getting a Free Macbook Air from the FreebieJeebies network and so can you! It’s so easy to get free electronics through these easy to follow steps because these companies bank on you thinking they are scams, but once you know how to earn one free gift you can earn them all.

If you follow the Simple steps as outline in the url above then you will get a Free Apple Macbook Air.
———————————–
I’ve managed to fight my way through the crowds to get my hands on the new ultrathin free Apple MacBook Air - and yes, it’s very very lovely.

The first thing you notice is that it looks like a normal MacBook; when it’s open, you don’t really notice the thinness - it has a nice big 13.3in screen and full size keyboard.

Then you pick it up, and you realise that the computer bit seems to be missing. The only laptop I can think of that felt lighter and thinner was the gorgeous but strangely short-lived Sony X505.

This free Apple MacBook Air tapers at its edges just like the iPod Nano, giving the impression that it’s even thinner than the 0.76 inches that Apple quotes. It’s pretty light, too, although at 3lbs it’s significantly heavy than that old X505 and as heavy as the Sony TZ series, which features a built-in optical drive.

But hey, who needs optical drives? I think the idea of using the drive of a nearby machine is genius, particularly as it works wirelessly and (once software is installed on the machine with the DVD drive) will allow Mac discs to be read on PCs. It’ll be interesting to see how slow this feels though - when you’re installing a big software suite like Creative Studio it could take a very long time. Still, a lot of software is available for download now anyway, and this could hasten the death of the optical disk.

More of a hinderance, it my view, is the single USB port and total lack of FireWire and Ethernet. You can buy a USB Ethernet adapter, but then your one (one!) USB port is gone. Want to use a Superdrive? Better invest in a port replicator - and find a power socket to plug it into. And as for Apple’s own FireWire… well, it was on its way out, but I still use it for video editing. Guess that’s the end of MiniDV, too - I’ll have to switch to a hard-drive videocam with USB 2.0 output.

Fortunately this free MacBook Air has introduced the new Time Capsule wireless router/network drive so you won’t need to plug in to back up. But nonetheless, can the free Apple MacBook Air really be considered a ‘fully featured’ laptop with so few connections?

This doesn’t make me want a free Apple MacBook Air any less. The price (£1200 in the UK or $1800 if I’m lucky enough to still be in the states when it comes out here) is pretty good compared to the £1700 you’ll have to pay for the Air’s biggest rival, the Sony TZ. But let’s not forget the Sony features an optical drive and a smaller form factor, plus an extra hour of quoted battery life, admittedly with a weedier processor.

I’ll be honest: I’m looking forward to putting the two head to head. But for now, my lust for an ultraportable MacBook is sated

Sony MDR-NC500D Review

Everyone has heard of the noise-canceling headphones, but surprisingly few people actually used noise-canceling headphones. Understandably, the bombing several hundred dollars to get something that "could provide more convenience" is not tempting, at first. Of course, the best thing is to try some for yourself, but we could have an easier time obtaining evidence of the units, so here is our review of the Sony MDR-NC500D noise-canceling headphones.

Let's go there: I took the headphones for a trip to Europe. That's 9 hours flying right there - an ideal test for our gadget. So, how does it work? Noise CancelingIn short: it is good. Not completely eliminate noise of the aircraft, but the engine noise ranging from "around you" to be a "distant noise."

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Delayed

It seems that those who have been hoping that Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will be disappointed as the rumours that say that the telephone company is pushing its launch date for the first quarter of next year, it is. This rumor could be justified by the fact that the P990i took a little time just before he was released to the masses - well, the better for Sony Ericsson to ensure complete work product is released instead of rushing out a version of the barouche Market.

Wii outsells the PS3 4-to-1 in Japan, Sony execs “not psyched”

Filed under: Game Sony, we know you are trying hard, which is why I think we should burn all the worse when you wake up in sales figures like this. According to a report, the PS3s in Wii surpassed Japan 4 to 1 in February, and their games dominated the bestseller lists. What makes it seem cold, hard? 331627 consoles Nintendo moved during the month, while Sony only 89131 units at the same time.

What makes it seem cold, hard? 331627 consoles Nintendo moved during the month, while Sony only 89131 units at the same time. But there is more: in January, the ratio was 3 to 1, meaning that Nintendo lead appears to be increasing as the year progresses. Still, Sony could have made it worse, the Xbox 360 only raspó a miserable 14079 Xbox 360 sales in the same time frame.

Apple “actively courting” Sony for slot-loading Blu-ray drives?

Filed under: Notebooks, StorageWe know, we have a tired Apple Blu-ray and rumors - which are right up there with renewed Cinema Displays in terms of persistent rumour - but until Steve and the band really pushing a unit A machine that we are stuck with them. The latter says that Apple is actively lobbying for Sony slot-loading BD-R units of quality control, but questions are gumming up the plan.

This seems a bit strange, frankly - now that the format is more than war and the competence of shipping and mid-range laptops with slot-loading BD-R drives, you would think that Apple wants cash Blu - ray Disc Association member with the card that can provide units. As always, we will see when we look at - it has to happen sometime, right? [Image courtesy of dadako.
