Motorola CEO Looking for Fresh Blood to Lead Battered Handset Division [Motoruhroh]

Motorola and feng shui design

Motorola has been granted a patent for a cell phone (or PDA) that can evaluate a room for adherence to Feng Shui principles, the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment. A mobile phone based on this patent would feature a direction sensor, digital camera (with software to analyze colors, order and balance of the environment), GPS to determine location of the space, an AM/FM radio (to make sure the space is far enough away from radio .

Motorola Now Number 3

Ouch. According to Gartner, Motorola has sold 38% less phones in the third quarter of this year than the same quarter of last year. Samsung has taken over the number 2 spot, while Nokia now enjoys 38% market share. All despite total mobile sales increasing by 15% to reach 289 . . . . . . . . . .
