John Carmack wants to Develop Games for the iPhone

Along with EA (Maxis) and Sega (Super Monkey Ball), Doom creator John Carmack has added to his company ID to the list of game developers for iPhone / iPod Touch platform. According to him, distribution capabilities offered by iTunes is the key benefit of development for the Apple platform: the ability to distribute larger regular applications of the cellular network limits imposed by the carriers, effectively market a title with more than a dozen character name and cover reasonable reven.

As I wrote once again iTunes proves to be a formidable weapon for the development of Apple's business. Permalink | Commentary | Uberbargain | Uberphones.

The 3D Mario Wii Casemod [Gaming]

The Wii is great and all, but I think that just slips too easily into my home theater cabinet. I want something more awkwardly shape and color garishly, dammit! When Nintendo hear my requests? I have to go to modders to get what I want, in particular, this hand-painted with a 3D Mario Wii mod popping out of the face. A bit much? Perhaps, but we can not hate this kind of fanboyism constructive.

SNES Emulator Running on a Cowon Q5W [Gaming]

This is a PMP that Cowon Q5W been rigged to connect to a controller for the original Playstation and run a SNES emulator. On the one hand, it is sweet to see SNES games being played in a PMP. Moreover, it is a $ 550 + PPM honking, so it probably was quite drunk if he does not have the juice to do it. In any case, pure! I will take the SNES emulation anywhere and everywhere.

An Exciting 3 Way…Game of Chess [Gadgets]

A chessboard recently unearthed in the Czech Republic takes a fresh look at the classic game by adding a third player in the action. Apparently, the game began as a regular chess, but somewhere near the middle all hell breaks loose in an orgy of complex movements diagonally. In addition, due to its three players, a certain degree of cooperation should take place to determine a winner.

iPhone Getting Multitouch Games, Including Spore, Super Monkey Ball [Cellphones]

I’ve got good news and better news. The good news is that the iPhone is getting multitouch games that use the accelerometer and every bell and whistle of the iPhone for controls. The better news? Developers such as EA and Sega are on board. EA is bringing the insanely anticipated game Spore to it. All 18 levels. Yes, this is real, and it’ll be released in September.

Also, Sega is bringing Super Monkey Ball, and the App Store looks like it’ll have a bunch of casual games available as well. Does this bring the iPhone up to DS and PSP levels?
