Asus Takes Bamboo Seriously With Concepts

Asus is toying with the idea of including bamboo as part of its construction material in these new concept products at CeBIT 2008. Some of these include a couple of bamboo laptops, a bamboo monitor and a bamboo-covered PC. I think these are nothing but fire hazards, as wood (technically bamboo is a grass. . . ) is definitely much easier to catch fire from overheated laptop batteries compared to a standard plastic and metal case that we currently have.

Asus M571 USB flash drive

The Asus M571 USB flash drive can be like a USB flash drive at first glance, but a closer inspection, you will realize that it's actually a USB flash drive that doubles as a wireless mouse too. Unfortunately, I do not believe that the form factor of this mouse in their hands is easy - just take a look at the horrible, thin! RSI is definitely introduce to you faster than expected, if it is a navigation solution in the long term.

Other features include a scroll wheel and a magnetic locking mechanism that connects the transmitter of the burden. No idea of its capacity and pricing, upon closing. Asus MS71 Is a Wireless Mouse and a USB Thumb Drive [Gadgets]

What do engineers to speak when they are drunk? The merger of two gadgets in a gadget, as evidenced by this Asus MS71 mouse / storage device. It is a wireless laser mouse, but at the same time is a USB drive thumb. The marriage of the two may look good on paper-if we do not think about it for more than five seconds, but the actual implementation is something you either too overcrowded to use comfortably as a mouse, or too big to Conveniently push in a USB po.

How about a webcam / USB thumb next record? Maybe we need to be more drunk that creates these things.

ECS D10IL Asus Eee Killer Launched

The Asus Eee is so popular that it has become the target of pretty much every PC manufacturer. ECS is the latest company to finally launch a competitor on this low-cost (< $500) new sub-notebook segment. But unlike the Cloudbook from Everex, ECS actually has a good shot at doing some damage. First, it is a nice design. Secondly, it has a 3G access built-in, which can be a benefit (always-on access) and a disadvantage (cost of the subscription).

First, it is a nice design. Secondly, it has a 3G access built-in, which can be a benefit (always-on access) and a disadvantage (cost of the subscription). The lack of optical drive might also turn-away customers, but hey, the Macbook Air doesn’t have one either. Obviously, there is WiFi and Bluetooth should be in too. Asus Lion Square CPU Cooler

Asus has just rolled out its Lion Square CPU cooler that looks bad-ass, featuring the face of a lion totem borrowed from the Sword Lion shield. I always thought that male lions, flowing mane and all were just lazy buggers waiting for the females to bring back the hunt - but I digress. The Lion Square CPU cooler comes with a nickel-plating copper base, four F8 copper heat pipes, aluminum wave fins and a 9cm LED inner fan that work together to lower processor temperatures by 30%.

The Inner fan also directs airflow created by the 9cm LED fan to surrounding VRM (voltage regulation modules), making it possible for gamers to go nuts overclocking up to 180 W. No idea on pricing, but the Asus Lion Square is more than a match for the latest Intel Core 2 Extreme/Core 2 Quad Quad-Core CPU and AMD Athlon 64 FX/X2 Dual-Core processors.

Asus Eco Book Notebook with a Bamboo Shell

After months of testing (and showing), the Asus eco-book has finally been launched at Cebit. Green is a big cash-cow right now and every company seems to find a way to say that they are somewhat greener. Asus’s argument is that they are using less plastic, thanks to the partial bamboo casing of this Eco Notebook. Asus thinks that Bamboo is the best thing ever, while IBM says “green IT is hype”, what is your take?Permalink | Comment | Uberbargain | Uberphones.
