On Tuesday, the California energy company PG & E began to generate power from a unusual source: cow manure. Yes, cow poop emits methane, as it decomposes. And while that's usually a bad thing, methane is a potent greenhouse gas and all, can be captured and turned into a renewable energy source. So it's just what PG & E is making, using manure to power until 1200 homes in California.

The digester cover was sunk in the lagoon, on Tuesday, but officials said they were tense and raised in a few days as the gas collects below it.
