Alcatel-Lucent sends data 1600 miles at 16.4Tbps

Filed under: NetworkingSure, researchers at Alcatel-Lucent has already sent data from 50 miles to 25. 6Tbps, but it seems we are now at a distance rather than speed: the company announced yesterday that it is now pumped bit more of a 1,584-mile-long link to the age of 16. 4Tbps. Of course, that's a little slower than the record, but being able to firehose bit at distances as it is even more impressive, if you ask us (not).

This latest test used 164 different channels and broadcasters updated and multiplexers to beat the record - which is good and all, guys, but if you are not using that old school 25. 6Tbps arts already know a few people who are interested. [Via Slashdot] Read | Permalink | Mail | Comments.
